About the Project
The story
Renewing the lighting of Amsterdam’s iconic A’DAM Tower was a complex and ambitious project. As one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks, the tower required a carefully considered architectural lighting solution that respected its unique design, diverse functions, and prominent position within the Amsterdam skyline.
A’DAM Tower is a vibrant destination where people come to work, dine, relax, stay, and experience culture. Since delivering the original facade lighting installation in 2011, OneEightyOne has played an important role in shaping the tower’s nighttime identity. Thirteen years later, the time had come to upgrade the lighting system with sustainable, energy-efficient, and future-proof LED lighting technology.
The renewal project was carried out in three phases, ensuring minimal disruption while significantly enhancing performance, reliability, and visual impact. The new lighting system offers greater flexibility for dynamic lighting scenes and special events, while reducing energy consumption and maintenance requirements. The result is a modernized media façade that strengthens the tower’s status as a landmark and continues to make a striking impression on residents and visitors alike.
