About the Project

The story

Timescape Bedburg is a multidisciplinary design project that combines architecture, art, and lighting within a new bicycle parking facility in Bedburg, Germany. Developed in collaboration with archigraphus and the City of Bedburg, the project transforms a functional space into a meaningful and engaging environment.

At the heart of the project is Zeitveinern, a light choreography that tells the story of Bedburg through four scenes - past, present, and future - expressed as flowing lines of light integrated into the structure. The façade design and lighting work together as one, creating a layered composition of movement, depth, and rhythm within the open architecture.

THE
PROCESS

Fixture selection

The installation makes use of G54 linear RGBW wall washers, which illuminate the perforated steel surfaces and enhance the spatial experience, both functionally and artistically. After selecting the linear, the light effect was tested on one of the steel frames in-house.

DiGidot programming

Once scenes the were created and finalized in MADRIX, they were arranged on a timeline within the software, allowing the complete sequence to be recorded and stored in the memory of the DiGidot controllers.

The meaning of light

Timescape Bedburg highlights the value of collaboration, craftsmanship, and storytelling, resulting in a public space that serves both practical needs and cultural expression. Now, city visitors can enjoy the art piece reflecting the history of the place.
