About the Project

The story

World Trade Center Amsterdam is a leading cross-sector business hub in the heart of the Amsterdam Zuidas. Guided by the positioning Welcome to Change, it brings together people, businesses and ideas shaping the new economy: where finance, impact and tech meet. WTC Amsterdam is currently undergoing a large-scale renovation as part of its broader transformation into a vibrant business ecosystem. This transformation is reflected throughout the entire building, including the modernization of the parking garage and its entrance. The renewed design creates a seamless and intuitive arrival experience, aligned with WTC Amsterdam’s transformation into a more open and welcoming environment.

OneEightyOne was proud to contribute to this progress with our expertise in dynamic and functional lighting. The WTC parking garage hosts hundred of vehicles every day,  so it was important to provide a balanced solution where aesthetic meets utility.

THE
PROCESS

Dynamic Ceiling

For this project, we supplied DiGi Modules E6S for a dynamic wave-washing effect across the ceiling of the entrance. The ceiling was programmed with multiple content scenes that correspond with community events, holidays, and special occasions, allowing the space to continuously evolve and stay connected to the rhythm of the WTC community.  

Functional lighting  

To meet functional lighting requirements, we supplied custom-made LED downlights that ensure the space remains bright, safe, and comfortable at all times. Carefully integrated within the grid structure, the fixtures remain visually subtle while delivering consistent, high-quality illumination for everyday use. 

Seamless & simplified installation

The modules were mounted on a custom-made grid that holds them in place while also neatly hiding them away for a more seamless look. Similarly, it holds in place dozens of functional downlights, each enclosed in a custom-made blocks for better grip. We also supplied a special installation box that makes it easily accessible.
